As a computer geek, I spend a lot of time working with software, and I enjoy being able to do a wide variety of tasks on the computer. However, after looking at the ridiculously high cost of some software, I started looking for alternatives to the traditional commercial softare. And much to my surprise, I found some that not only were legal to use and lower cost, but many were in fact free.

And an even bigger surprise is a lot of this software is just as good, if not even better, than the more expensive counterparts.

But there is no reason to keep these to myself, so I am passing them on.

I will admit that I don't use all of these programs, but most of the ones I don't use are because I don't have a need for them. I thought that maybe some people do have a use for them, however, which is why I included them. I also included a couple of alternatives, but for the most part the choice is to use the program or not to use the program.
